Captain Ishtiaque Hossain, Commander Boeing 777 in Biman Bangladesh Airlines has been elected as the Executive Vice President ( Asia Pacific) of International Federation of Airline Pilots Association (IFALPA) for the second consecutive term through the direct voting procedure recently held at the Annual Conference of the IFALPA at Berlin, Germany. The conference was attended by 550 delegates throughout the world.
Till now, none of the airline pilots of this sub-continent was elected even for a single term in this highest professional post. He will be responsible for the aviation sector of the Asia/Pacific countries like Australia, China including Hong Kong, Fiji, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Mongolia, Malaysia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Singapore, Thailand, all of the SAARC countries and some Pacific Countries which also shares with USA.
Montreal- Canada based International Federation of Airlines Pilots' Association (IFALPA)-the Global Voice of the Pilots' works closely with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) a specialized agency of the United Nations Organization and International Labour Organization (ILO).
Captain Ishtiaque Hossain is also the First Bangladeshi who is a full member of 'International Society of Air Safety Investigators (ISASI)' a United States based sole organization specifically created for the air safety investigators and/or the aircraft accident prevention professionals of the world. He is one of the pioneer airline pilot of Bangladesh who has international accreditation as an ‘Aircraft Accident Investigator’ (AAI). He was the Regional Vice-President Asia/West for consecutive 4 terms before he got elected for the post of Executive Vice President.
